Boise State Earns Two Wins in Jacksons Invite Opening Day

NAMPA, Idaho – Boise State women’s track and field members Mackenzie Flannigan and Karyna Armstrong earned wins for the Broncos on day one of the Jacksons Invitational at the Jacksons Indoor Track and the Idaho Center, Friday.

Flannigan, a senior, clocked a time of 24.34-seconds to win the women’s 200-meter dash, while Armstrong, a redshirt freshman, threw 61-2 (18.64m) to win the weight throw with a career-best mark.

Teammate Hayli Bozarth placed second behind Armstrong in the weight throw, tossing a mark of 60-10.50 (18.55m). Freshman Allison Jeffries also collected runner-up honors for the Broncos, clearing 12-5.50 (3.80m) in the pole vault, while Kimberly Miller added a second-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 18-5.75 (5.63m).

Freshman Brandi Williams (18-4.50/5.60m) and senior Jasmyn Jewett (17-5.50 (5.32m) added top-10 finishes for the Broncos in the long jump, placing third and sixth, respectively. Shannon Jacobs earned a top-10 finish along with Flannigan in the 200-meters, clocking a personal-best time of 25.17-seconds.

On the men’s side Matt Post threw a career-best mark of 59-8.50 (18.20m) to place third in the weight throw.

Leading the men on the track, Bret Scheve earned the best finish for his team on the oval, racing to an 11th-place finish in the 200-meters (22.25).

The Jacksons Invitational continues Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Jacksons Indoor Track.
