2017-18: INDOOR- Took fourth in the 60m hurdles in 8.52 at the Jackson Nike Boise Indoor Invite, running the second-fastest time of the prelims in 8.43 (Feb. 2-3) . . . Advanced to the preliminary round of the 60m hurdles at the UW Invitational (Jan. 26-27), finishing 17th overall. Also ran the 400m that weekend . . . Finished third in his collegiate debut in the 60m hurdles in 8.42 at the Bronco Invitational (Jan. 20). Also finished seventh in the 200m in 22.53 . . . Ran 50.61 to finish fourth in the 400m at the Ed Jacoby Invitational (Jan. 12-13) . . . Ran 49.49 to finish in second at the Jacksons Open (Dec. 9) in the 400m. Also ran 22.51 for 200m that weekend

Winning a combined 14 races in the 110m and 300m hurdles his senior season at Tualatin HS, Ryan Cavinta has shown the ability to win big races. Cavinta exercised this quality at the Oregon 6A Track and Field State Championships, taking first in the 300m hurdles thanks to a career-best time of 37.85. He also took third in the 110m hurdles (15.35) and sixth in the long jump (22-2.75) to earn more points for the Timberwolves. Cavinta also excelled at the 2016 state championships, recording top-10 finishes in both the 110m and 300m hurdles.
