BOISE, Idaho - Boise State spirit squad head coach Torbuk Blaine announced the selection of a 50-member team for the 2017-18 academic year. Blaine and other department personnel oversaw auditions last weekend, before ultimately selecting the team of Mane Line Dancers and Boise State Cheerleaders.

The group was pared down from 95 hopefuls over three days of tryouts. Cuts were made Friday and Saturday, with the finalists performing Sunday in front of a panel of judges. The panel selected 19 Mane Line Dancers and 31 cheerleaders.

Of the 50 members, 24 will return from the 2016-17 season- 12 from each the dance and cheer squads. Eight of the 24 returners will be back for their fourth year of competition with the Boise State spirit squad. The Bronco veterans will help usher in the next wave of spirit squad members, as 20 incoming freshmen were selected for the team.

The team begins practices June 4, followed by fall camp Aug. 13-20.
