DENVER, Colo. - The Western Athletic Conference announced its 2011 spring semester all-academic teams as well as the 2010-11 All-WAC freshmen/transfer teams, Friday (July 8). In their final year as members of the WAC, Boise State earned 65 honors spanning 11 teams, including 39 spring awardees and 26 freshmen/transfer honorees.

The spring academic All-WAC teams recognize student-athletes from baseball, softball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's outdoor track and field. The All-WAC freshmen/transfer teams features student-athletes from all sports throughout the 2010-11 academic year. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic year, have a minimum 3.00 cumulative grade point average and have competed in at least 50 percent of their team's contests.

Boise State had student-athletes from six different teams qualify for All-WAC academic honors this spring, with 39 total student-athletes receiving honors. Women's outdoor track and field led the way with 12 All-WAC academic honorees, while men's outdoor track and field was second with 11. Softball landed 10 student-athletes on the honors list, while women's tennis had three honorees. Women's golf had two honorees, while men's tennis had one.

The Broncos also landed 26 additional student-athletes on the All-WAC freshman/transfer teams, representing 10 of Boise State's teams. Women's outdoor track and field led the way in this category as well, landing 10 on the freshman/transfers list. Soccer and men's outdoor track and field each tallied three honorees, while swimming and diving, women's tennis and softball each tallied two freshmen/transfer academic selections. Men's basketball, women's golf, men's golf and gymnastics rounded out the honors with one student-athlete each named to the all-WAC freshmen/transfer team.
