39 Boise State student-athletes who will always be Broncos

Boise State University celebrates its Spring Commencement Saturday, May 7, and 33 Bronco student-athletes will receive their diplomas. Another six Broncos will graduate in the summer. All 39 will be honored at the Bronco Graduation Reception this weekend.

Each of the school's 20 varsity sports are represented among the 39 graduates, including a department-high six from football. Wrestling (four), men's basketball (three), women's golf (three), gymnastics (three), women's soccer (three), women's tennis (three), men's track and field/cross country (three), women's basketball (two), softball (two), women's swimming and diving (two) and women's track and field/cross country (two) all have multiple student-athletes earning a degree.

Five Bronco graduates are expected to return to their fields of play next year with degrees already in hand. James Reid will debut for the men's basketball team next season having already earned a Boise State degree in business. Karyna Armstrong (track and field) will get two degrees this summer in criminal justice and political science, while still having a year left to improve on a solid career as a weight and hammer throw specialist.

Britlie Silvester is not only wrapping up her Boise State career as a thrower on the track and field team, this week Silvester will also earn a master of kinesiology degree in behavioral studies.

Earlier this month the women's golf and women's tennis teams earned Public Recognition Awards from the NCAA for having multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores in the top-10 percent of their respective sports. Now many of the student-athletes on those teams will see the fruits of their labor. Three members of each team will earn degrees in the spring or summer. Sammie Pless of women's golf leads the way with a 3.95 cumulative grade-point average.

The most decorated soccer student-athlete in program history will also have a degree at the end of her four years at Boise State. Brooke Heidemann, a four-time All-Mountain West First Team midfielder and 2015 all-region performer, will graduate with two teammates Saturday (Bailey Anderson and Kelsey Nicassio).

David Elliott will leave Boise State with a bachelor's degree in finance as well as more school records than any track and field student-athlete in program history. Elliott is already a two-time All-American and has his sights set on more hardware at the upcoming Mountain West and NCAA outdoor championships.

The other All-American among 2016 graduates is volleyball standout Sarah Baugh. One of the nation's best setters in 2015, Baugh was named all-region and All-America by the AVCA in addition to earning a CoSIDA Academic All-District award. This summer she will be the recipient of a degree in business.

Boise State athletics would like to say congratulations and thank you to our wonderful group of graduating student-athletes. Find a complete list below.
