Athlete of the Week 3/8-14: Zacharias Arnos

BOISE, Idaho - Zacharias Arnos recorded a lifetime best en route to earning All-America honors in the triple jump at the NCAA 2010 Track and Field Indoor Championships. Arnos was the lone representative for the Boise State track and field team, but did not disappoint with an eight-place finish in the triple jump.

Arnos, a senior from Greece, recorded a jump of 52-feet, 7.50-inches to earn eight place and All-America honors in the event. This was Arnos' first trip to the indoor championships although he has been to the outdoor championships twice in his career. His top-8 finish is the highest that he has ever place at any national championship event.

The track and field team will now prepare for the outdoor season, which starts on Mar. 26-27 when the Broncos compete at the Arizona State Team Invitational in Tempe, Ariz.

The gymnastics team hosts San Jose State for senior night on Friday and the softball team also hosts Minnesota in their home-opener this Friday. The home-opener is part of the SpringHill Suites Invitational that hosts games involving Portland State, Weber State and Minnesota. Both golf teams will be back in action with the women's team playing in Florence, Ariz. Monday through Wednesday and the men's team playing in Phoenix, Ariz. on Thursday through Saturday. The wrestling team will take eight wrestlers to the NCAA Championships, starting Wednesday. Both tennis teams are also in action with the men's team traveling to the Blue Gray Classic and the women's team hosting Denver on Friday and San Diego on Sunday.
