Lupfer Named Boise State Athlete of the Week

BOISE, Idaho – Women’s basketball junior Riley Lupfer is this week’s Boise State Athlete of the Week after leading the Broncos to their third Mountain West Women’s Basketball Tournament in four years.

Lupfer was named the Mountain West Women’s Basketball Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player as the Broncos won the tournament title for the third time in four years. In the championship game, where the Broncos downed Nevada with a buzzer-beating shot, Lupfer scored 19 points on 6 of 17 shooting, including 5 of 13 from 3-point range.

In the Broncos quarterfinal matchup with Air Force, Lupfer collected five 3-pointers, setting the Mountain West single-season 3-point record as the Broncos dispatched the Falcons, 60-46. Lupfer finished with a game-high 19 points, also going 4-for-4 from the line while scoring five of Boise State’s nine second half-opening points in the game-changing run.

In the semifinal victory over Colorado State, Lupfer collected 12 points on 5 of 9 shooting.
