BOISE, Idaho Boise State University has tapped Learfield Sports as its exclusive athletics marketing partner and multimedia rights holder, beginning July 1, 2010, as announced today by Director of Athletics Gene Bleymaier. The agreement is pending Idaho State Board of Education approval.

This signifies the first time Boise State has outsourced its multimedia rights in a comprehensive package. The agreement will go into effect with the 2010-11 athletic season and provides for seven years with three yearly extension options.

For Learfield Sports, Boise State represents its seventh partner school within the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) and its 51st property in its overall portfolio. The company has been well-rooted within the collegiate sports marketplace for nearly 40 years managing multimedia and sponsorship rights for collegiate institutions and associations, including other WAC member schools Fresno State, Idaho, Louisiana Tech, Nevada, San Jose State and Utah State. Learfield Sports also represents the Conference in a separate agreement, charging the company to build a corporate partner program and sell title sponsorships for the WAC.

Early next fall, Learfield Sports will establish a Boise-based entity known as "Bronco Sports Properties" that will oversee all aspects of the partnership including managing and selling multimedia and sponsorship rights for Boise State Athletics; signage and sponsorships at all venues, including Bronco Stadium and Taco Bell Arena; radio; certain televised programs such as coaches’ shows and play-by-play of selected football and men’s and women’s basketball games; corporate hospitality; print sponsorships; event marketing and official athletic Web site advertising.

"Learfield Sports is a leader and innovator in the media rights field. We are excited about partnering with such an excellent company," said Bleymaier.

"Boise State is a first-rate school with an exceptional athletics program that has been making noise for many years not only in the region, but nationally," said Greg Brown, Learfield Sports’ president. "Gene and his entire team should be proud of the program they have built, and we look forward to collaborating with them."

In addition to its school relationships, the Dallas-based company now title partner of the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup also oversees marketing partnerships for the Black Coaches & Administrators (BCA) and provides exclusive sports programming to more than 1,000 radio stations nationwide. It is an operating unit of Jefferson City, Mo.-based Learfield Communications, Inc., which made its initial foray into the world of sports marketing in 1975 as the radio rights holder for the University of Missouri, a client still today.

Additionally, Team Services, LLC, a Learfield Sports company, specializes in venue naming rights, marketing research and sales consultation. For more about the company and its complete portfolio, visit
