BOISE, Idaho The Broncos are heading for the desert to play golf and all Boise State University fans are invited to join along.  On March 4 and 5 (Sunday and Monday) the Boise State athletic department will host a benefit golf tournament in Palm Desert, Calif. to help raise money for the summer school scholarships.

This March event, which is part of the Bronco Golf Series, will be at the Palm Valley Country Club in Palm Desert.  A reception and dinner will be held the evening of March 4, with the golf tournament starting at 8:00 a.m. (PT) the next morning (March 5).  A lunch will be served following the tournament.  US Bank is the presenting sponsor for the tournament.

A shamble format will be played with the lowest two net scores on each hole used in the scoring.  Each team will have four players, with an opportunity to purchase a fifth player from the Boise State coaches and staff attending the event.

The cost per player is $250.00, or $900.00 for a four-person team.  As mentioned, all proceeds go to the Bronco summer school scholarship fund which provides funding for student-athletes to attend summer school at Boise State.

For more information regarding the tournament, please contact Valerie Tichenor, director of special events in the athletic department, by phone at (208) 426-2570 or by e-mail at
