Athlete of the Week 1/25-31: Anthony Thomas

BOISE, Idaho - Anthony Thomas led the Broncos to a slump-busting, dramatic victory over Idaho last Monday to earn this week's Bronco Athlete of the Week honors. The Boise State men's basketball team is now riding a two-game winning streak thanks, in part, to Thomas' big-time performance over Idaho.

The senior guard from Mansfield, Texas, led the Broncos with 17 points over their rivals and hit a game-tying 3-pointer with time expiring to push the game into overtime. The extra period belonged to the Broncos as they earned their first conference win of the season 77-67. Thomas' 17 points came on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor, including 4-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc. He also added six rebounds and three assists. On Saturday, Thomas added seven points and two assists to the Broncos victory over Fresno State.

The Broncos will try to make it a season sweep over Idaho when the Vandals visit Taco Bell Arena on Saturday at 7 p.m.

The women's basketball team faces a tough road trip this week as they face Louisiana Tech on Wednesday and New Mexico State on Saturday. The track and field team will host the United Heritage Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Nampa. The men's tennis team will host Weber State and Utah State on Saturday while the women's tennis team hosts Colorado on Sunday. Both the gymnastics and wrestling teams hit the road this week as they face Cal State Fullerton and Utah Valley, respectively.
